May Art: Local High School Students and Kirsten Denbow's Encaustics

May will be a very special month of art at Balefire Goods. We will be showcasing student artwork alongside many other Olde Town Merchants and in partnership with the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities. In addition to the student show, we will also be showcasing the encaustic work of local artist and art instructor Kirsten Denbow.

Kirsten Denbow

Kirsten is a local artist and art instructor. In addition to being one of the jewelers sharing her work at our Mother's Day Trunk Show, Kirsten will also be showing her encaustic paintings in the store for the month of May. This collection of her work celebrates Americana at its finest by capturing classic old neon signs based on photographs she takes as part of her travels. In addition, Kirsten creates floral and nature-based designs in encaustic wax.

Historic Olde Town Arvada will feature hundreds of pieces of artwork created by area high schools students in its May First Friday Art Walk via a partnership with the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities. “We are so excited for this ‘special’ edition of Olde Town’s monthly First Friday Art Walks! In addition to the 15 businesses showcasing the student’s art, we will have dozens of other businesses playing a supporting role with live music, complimentary food and drink…and just an all-around festive atmosphere,” said Jean Gordon, director of the Arvada Visitors Center.
