How did you and your significant other meet?

We met working in our college bookstore!

As a couple, what are your interests/hobbies?

Eli loves rock climbing, napping, and cuddling with their dog. Kaziah spends most of her free time reading and hanging out with friends.

When did you know your partner was “the one” and you wanted to get married?

We both knew quickly that we wanted to stay together long-term--from the beginning neither of us could imagine breaking up. After about two years we were certain we'd get married eventually, but it took a while to find the right time. After 8 years together, the timing was right and marriage felt like a wonderful way to celebrate the life and community we had built together, and the relationship we've created and prioritized throughout the years.

What is one of your favorite things about your partner?

Kaziah about Eli: Eli's enthusiasm both for life and for the people he loves is such a gift. He is one of the most open-hearted people I know, and he inspires me to be more that way every day. 

Eli about Kaziah: Kaziah is the steadiest, most comforting presence in my life. She cares so passionately about the people, issues, and causes she believes in.

What was your proposal like (was the ring a surprise or was it collaborative)?

We both proposed, and both wore engagement rings. When we decided we wanted to get married, one of the first steps for us was finding those rings, because we wanted to wear them throughout the engagement. We spent a few months with you working on the design process and finding the right stones. You all at Balefire did such a wonderful job of guiding us through the design process, and we felt very lucky to find you. Both of our rings are stunning and we feel lucky every time we look at them.

Tell us about your wedding (if it has happened yet).

We got married at the Tattered Cover Bookstore! Books have been a big part of our relationship and life together, and we were very lucky to get to do the wedding ceremony surrounded by so many books. We still can't believe it worked out.

Why did you decide to work with Balefire?

Another jeweler recommended Balefire to us, and when we came in the rings were stunning and everyone we met that first day was incredibly welcoming. It just felt like the right place to work with from the start.

What advice would you give to other couples shopping for wedding or engagement rings?

Both wear engagement rings-- everyone deserves bling! It was nice to get to pick them out together, and put that intention into getting married from the very start of the ring-shopping process. If your partner doesn't like surprises, don't surprise them with a ring! We also would recommend Balefire to any and all looking for a ring :)
